Love Story
~High School Sweetheart~
Jon flew to Sheridan that morning, but before he left, he begged me to be careful. To keep my eyes, and ears open to everything around me. My heart was racing, beating from the deepest part of my stomach. Screaming at me, "Don't let Jon go to Sheridan!" "Jon", I pleaded, I don't want you to go!"
"Lynn, I can't let this go, especially now!" I was tearing up, shaking, "Jon please let it go, I'm so afraid!"
"Lynn" he answered, "I love you, but I have to know why Kelli died, I need to know what happened!"
Suddenly, I remembered where I was at the moment, and someone may be listening to this conversation. But I couldn't let Jon go without telling him how I felt. "Jon, I love you, and I don't want to lose you!"
I hadn't seen Paul standing against the wall looking at me. I turned with tears blurring my vision, just as Paul slid down the wall slowly.
The kids, and I followed the ambulance to the hospital. Paul was in a coma by the time the paramedics arrived. I registered Paul, and the kids were sent to a waiting room. My love Story
I belong to a renowned family in the Philippines. My brother
sisters, and I were raised conservatively and well disciplined. In our family,
our name and reputation are the most important things that our family value
most. Our parents and grandparents were very strict. They won’t let us out in
the streets after five p.m. if we’re not home by that time, there were going to
punish us for breaking one of the rules. We were not supposed to go out with
others especially if they do not know the persons we’re going with. They
won’t allow us to have a boyfriend or a girlfriend not until we were finish
our college studies and be successful on our chosen careers. As a Filipino
tradition, we do what the elders may say. So as a result of their demanding
obedience, most of my brothers and sisters were making commitments with
the one they love furtively. They were afraid to let our parents know that
they’re having serious relationships. And so, the secrets continued…
When I was at second year high scool, I understood what
they went through. I felt really bad about it.
ON DEATHS DOOR
The drip, drip, drip splashed crimson on the ground and it was just about then that she let out a terrifying scream. She had seen a reflection of a black hooded figure rising behind her. She stood there frozen in fear. The figure was starting to lift something behind her, she quickly swung around to see the figures face, but it had vanished. She kept telling herself that she was just seeing things or it was a reflection of something else, so she decided to go wash her face and to go outside, to get some fresh air.
She proceeded outside; she had just left her doorstep when she saw some children run into alleyway. She decided to go investigate. She followed the children, up and down several alleyways, until the children finally stopped. “You kids should be at home, it’s not safe at this time of night”, she yelled. The children turned around, they had very devilish looking eyes, and they grinned and disappeared into the darkness.
She started walking back home, when the hooded figure came back, this time he was holding a large scythe. She started running, faster and faster up and down many side streets and alleys. Until she couldn’t run anymore. The figure was still following her. She kept urging herself on, to keep running. She ran down another alley that had a bend, she ran around the bend and it was a dead end….
